[Also in Division H2] A hollow rail A open on one side and carrying conductor bars 1 which are unilaterally accessible receives the head 17 of a lamp supporting box B, provided with a plurality of spring tongues 19-23 which extend laterally therefrom and which serve as retaining 19, 20 and contact 22, 23 tongues and an earthing tongue 21 co-operating with the rail, and a cam roller 28 operated by a knob or lever having four positions: (1) inoperative; (2) partially prelocking of retaining tongues and contact of earthing tongue; (3) full locking of retaining tongues; (4) contact tongues caused to make contact with conductor bars. The cam roller 28 carries five cams 29-33 spaced therealong each having a spring tongue in resilient contact therewith; each tongue can project out of the box B through holes. The contact tongues 22, 23 are connected to terminals (27) which are connected to the lamp cables (16) with the switch in position 1 (as shown) more of the tongues protrude and the box head 17 is inserted into the coil A. With the switch in position 2 the locking tongues 19, 20 are forced outwards by cams 33, 29 and enter slots 15 and the earthing tongue 21 is forced outwards to engage the bright metal surface of the rail which may be protected by an insulating coating before use. In this position the box B cannot be removed from, but may be moved along, the rail. At position 3 the tongues 19, 20 are forced against the bottom of the slots 15, thereby looking the box into position. At position 4 the contact tongues 22, 23 are forced outwards by cams 30, 32 to contact the conductor bars 14, which extend along grooves in plastics strips (12, 13) mounted in the rail A which is fixed to a supporting surface by a member (11) which may be screwed to, or mounted on or in the surface.
