Abstract

1,226,798. Knitting-machines. FAMILIE WALDENFELS G.m.b.H. 11 April, 1968 [19 April, 1967 (2)], No. 17477/68. Heading D1C. In a warp knitting machine having a guide 13 for laying in wefts the guide is so mounted that it is raised at the start of each traverse to avoid collision with the inserters 8. The guide lays yarn behind the needles on the sinkers 7, from where it is pushed by inserters 8 across the top of the lowered needle. The guide reverses its traverse before the inserters are withdrawn, and is then raised to clear them. To this end the thread guide rails 11 are mounted between brackets 14 pivotal, in time with the guide movement, about axes 15. The guide, or several guides across the width of the machine are driven by an oscillating cord 12 to which they are attached. The ends of the cord are fixed and the end portions each pass around pairs of pulley blocks (33, 34 Fig. 5 not shown). The inner-. most block of each pair are fixed at opposite ends of a reciprocating rod (35) which thereby oscillates the cord. The guide stroke can be varied by adjusting the rod stroke, the number of pulleys entrained, or both weft insertion may be interrupted while the machine is running and fabric pieces severed and sealed between wefts by heated jaws or a hot air nozzle.
