Abstract

1,226,351. Coatings. SPANG INDUSTRIES, Inc. 23 Feb., 1968 [24 Feb., 1967], No. 8789/ 68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division H1] A magnetic core assembly is coated by heating the assembly to 225‹F to 425‹F and applying an electrically insulating coating material to the assembly when it is at this temperature and partially curing at a temperature higher than 225‹F and not significantly higher than temperature of core assembly at the time of spraying so that pressure thereby generated within the core assembly is insufficient to cause bubble or pinhole formation in the so-formed coating. The electrically insulating material may be a liquid resin, containing a solid particulated organic filler and a volatile liquid vehicle. The resin may be a silicone, an alkyd, an epoxide, a silicone-modified alkyd or a silicone modified epoxide, and the filler may be silicone dioxide. A pigment such as molybdate orange or mercadmium red may be present. The coating may be applied by first coating a portion of the assembly and then coating the remainder before the final curing. The coating may be applied by spraying.
