Abstract

1,225,408. Gramophone - record envelopes. N. J. GARROD. 15 Aug., 1969 [15 Aug., 1968], No. 39051/68. Addition to 1,119,823. Heading B6A. In a gramophone record sleeve having spines along three non-opening edges, each spine being formed from edge strips integral with one sheet forming the sleeve folded and affixed to an inside surface of the sleeve so as to form a step on that surface, the edge of the step is formed with an arcuate cut-out conforming to the shape of a record. As shown, one sheet 10 of a gramophone record sleeve is formed with marginal flaps 14 which are folded along lines 16 and stuck down to form thicker marginal portions (19, Fig. 3) which are then folded into U-shape along lines 17, 18 overlying lines 11, 12. The outer faces of the U-shaped portions are then affixed to a second sheet (22, Fig. 4) to form the sleeve. The flaps 14 when folded over stand up above the sheet 10, and cut-outs 16 are provided to accommodate a record without permitting it to flex. In a modification, cigar-shaped apertures centred on the lines 16 are cut in the sheet 10 so that the edges of the portions affixed to the second sheet (22) are provided with arcuate recesses.
