1,224,800. Electrical insulating material. SHOELLER & HOESCH. 31 Dec., 1968 [14 Feb., 1968; 24 Oct., 1968], No. 61931/68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division H1] Electrical insulating material consists of a first layer substantially comprising paper fibers and a second layer consisting of polymeric plastic material and interconnected with the first layer wherein the first layer comprises cleaned capacitor pulp material with a high alpha-cellulose content and dielectrically inert metal oxides and the second layer consists of polymeric plastic material which possesses a dielectric loss factor (tan #) not exceeding 10 x 10<SP>-4</SP> which is substantially retained in contact with an impregnating material based on chlorodiphenyl, and which plastic material can be applied as a coating under conditions supportable by the pulp material of the first layer and is free of additives causing an increase of the dielectric loss factor. The coating material may be polystyrene, polyvinylcarbazole or polypropylene. The chlorodiphenyl unstable components of the coating material may have been removed.
