Abstract

122,477. Anderson, W. Jan. 24, 1918. Cyanogen compounds in general. - Relates to apparatus for extracting materials by volatile solvents such as oil from cotton waste or earthy substances, or cyanide from spent oxides in which the extraction is performed in a centrifugal machine into which the solvent is introduced as vapour mixed with steam. The steam used is the exhaust steam from a turbine which drives the centrifugal machine and the solvent may be mixed with this steam as it enters or issues from the turbine. The vapours which leave the centrifugal machine 1 pass by a pipe 4 to a condenser 3. The condensate passes to a gravity-separating device 5 whence the solvent is returned to the centrifugal machine. The solvent containing the extracted material passes to an evaporator 6 connected to the condenser 3. Specification 23148/10, [Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.], is referred to.
