A frame tower for supporting high tension electrical equipment, e.g. high voltage capacitors 2, comprises stages 1 of horizontal steel frames 3 separated and supported by uprights, the lower portion (4) (Fig. 3, not shown) of each upright being of metal and the upper portion ( 5 ) of insulating material, e.g. porcelain, resilient packing material (6) being provided between the insulating portion and adjacent metal. As shown the lower stages do not accommodate electrical equipment and the uprights are of metal only.
