Abstract
1,223,730. Softening textiles. ARMOUR INDUSTRIAL CHEMICAL CO. 24 July, 1968 [31 July, 1967], No. 35283/68. Heading D1P [Also in Division C2] Fabrics such as terry cloth are softened by treating with an aqueous solution of a compound of the general formula: wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> each is a C 8-22 straight or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group x and v are positive integers, (x + y)= 2-15 and X is an anion. The softening properties of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)N-2-(2'-hydroxy ethoxy) ethyl, N, N-di-(hydrogenated tallow) ammonium chloride are exemplified.
