Abstract
1,223,400. Measuring dimensions photoelectrically. CENTRE NATIONAL DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES. May 6, 1968 [Dec. 15, 1967], No.6391/70. Divided out of 1,222,233. Heading G1A. The dimension of an object is measured by reflecting beams of light off surfaces of the object defining the dimension and detecting the reflected beams using television cameras. Beams of light from sources 15, 18 are reflected from points 16, 19 defining the dimension 12 and the points 16, 19 are imaged by optical systems 21, 22 into television cameras 17, 20. The pulses generated from scanning the images by cameras 17, 20 are fed in turn to start and stop a timer indicating the variation of the dimension from a nominal value. The alignment of the optical systems may be checked in the absence of object 11 by receiving the beams from 15 and 18 on cameras 20 and 17 respectively.
