Abstract

1,223,264. Packaging articles, e.g. rivets in rows. AVDEL Ltd. 3 May, 1968 [11 May, 1967], No. 22037/67. Heading B8C. A package containing elongated articles, e.g. rivets disposed end-to-end in a row, each article having at least one transverse enlargement, comprises two superposed strips, at least one of which is deformable about the articles, with the articles between them, the strips being fastened together at each side of the row, and at least one strip being deformed to engage the enlargements and locate the articles in the package. Rivets 11, Fig. 1, are placed on a paper strip 19 and covered by a narrower strip 15 made of an adhesive-coated transparent vinyl plastics which deforms around the articles and adheres to the strip 19 at the edges 16. A transparent strip 17 being non-adhesive on at least its lower side may be affixed to the strip 15 to prevent it adhering to the articles; also a reinforcing strip may be included. The projections may pierce the strip 19.
