Abstract
1,223,022. Hydrogen fluoride; hexafluorosilicic acid. CHEMIEWERK COSWIG VEB. 15 July, 1968, No. 33597/68. Heading C1A. [Also in Division B1] In a process for the absorption of waste gases containing hydrogen fluoride and/or silicon tetrafluoride in water or an aqueous solution of hexafluorosilicic acid, the absorption takes place in a stable bubble layer formed on slotted plates B arranged in a column A. The ratio between the breadth of a slot and the breadth of the portion of the plate between two slots is between 1À0: 0À5 and 1À0: 1À6. The ratio is preferably 1.0: 1.0. In the apparatus shown there is countercurrent contact between the liquid absorbent and the gas to be absorbed. Aqueous hexafluoro-silicic acid is withdrawn at 6.
