Compounds of the general formula (Ar = unsubstituted or substituted aromatic or cycloaliphatic radical or heterocyclic radical of aromatic nature; R = H, alkyl or aryl; A, B = alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or -NAB = heterocyclic radical which may contain a further heteroatom) and their acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts are prepared by reacting ArCOCON(R)CH 2 CH 2 NAB with an appropriate organometallic compound, optionally followed by salt formation. The starting materials are prepared by standard methods. Certain of the quaternary ammonium salts are spasmolytics, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier or excipient.
