Abstract

By aerating ascending column.-The foot-piece of an air-lift pump comprises a restricted inlet nozzle b, Fig. 1, for the liquid, a mixing chamber c arranged centrally of the tube a and provided with air-inlet holes g and a delivery cone i, holes e for admitting air to the annular space d between the tube a and the chamber c, and, if desired, holes f in the upper part of the delivery cone for admitting air from the space d to the discharge tube. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the chamber c is replaced by two mixing cones c, c'. In another form, the nozzle b and mixing chamber and delivery cone are formed in one with a tube inserted in the tube a, and the air is supplied by a perforated pipe passing eccentrically through the inner tube. A group of nozzles and cones may be arranged in the chamber d.
