Abstract

1,222,520. Aerials. L.T.V. ELECTROSYSTEMS Inc. 8 Feb., 1968, No. 41070/70. Divided out of 1,222,518. Heading H4A. The present Specification is similar to the parent Specification, but the claims deal with an interference rejecting device for use when deriving an equivalent narrow beam signal from two signals corresponding to broad beam reception patterns. As described, a signal corresponding to a figure eight directional pattern is applied to one end of a midpoint grounded potentiometer 72, and to the input of an inverter 50. Output from the said inverter is applied to the other end of the potentiometer. A second signal corresponding to a cardioid directional pattern is applied to one input of a summer 71, the other input of which is connected to the slider of the potentiometer 72. This enables inphase or anti-phase amounts of the firstmentioned signal to be combined with the second-mentioned signal and it is stated that the output signal from the summer 71 corresponds to a rotated cardioid directional pattern. The first-mentioned signal may be applied to the input of a paraphase amplifier, whose outputs are applied through cathode-follower amplifiers to the ends of the potentiometer (Fig. 12, not shown).
