Abstract
1,220,784. Non-agglomerating polymer-rubbery polymer compositions. PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHINEY - SAINT - GOBAIN. 16 May, 1969 [17 May, 1968], No. 25036/69. Addition, to 1200,532. Heading C3P. A composition comprising 50 to 77% of a rubbery polymer and 50 to 23% of a non- agglomerating polymer and an apparent density of 0À3 to 0À65 g./c.c. is obtained by coagulating a rubbery polymer latex, mixing the coagulate under agitation with 30 to 100% of a non- agglomerating polymer in the form of a latex, and separating, washing and drying the product. The non-agglomerating polymer has a second order transition temperature above 0‹ C. and a modulus of elasticity under stress of above 1000 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. Optionally a mixture of rubbery polymer latices or of a rubbery polymer latex with a non-agglomerating polymer latex may be coagulated in the initial step. The coagulate-latex mixture may be subjected to heat treatment prior to coagulation. In examples, a butadiene-acrylonitrile or a butadienestyrene-acrylonitrile-divinylbenzene copolymer is used as rubbery polymer and the non- agglomerating polymer is polyvinylchloride, polymethylmethacrylate or a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, a latex of these polymers in some cases also being included in the rubbery polymer latex prior to coagulation. The compositions may be compounded with other polymers, examples relating to styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer and polyvinyl chloride, the mixtures also including glycerolmonostearate and an organotin stabilizer.
