Abstract

1,220,678. Tobacco-smokefilters. COURTAULDS Ltd. 18 June, 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 14530/67. Heading A2C. A tobacco-smoke filter comprises a compact bundle of filamentary or fibrillar material, at least part of which material is produced by fibrillation of polyolefin sheet or film. The preferred polyolefins are polyethylene and polypropylene or compositions of these with other polymeric materials. Laminates of polyolefins with other polymers may also be used. Suitable methods for fribrillating the sheet or film are specified. The filter may form a component of a multiple filter that includes a crimped paper section with or without adsorbent additive material such as active carbon.
