Abstract

1,220,576. Clamps. M. J. THOMAS, 9 May, 1968 [18 Feb., 1967], No. 7838/67. Heading E2B. A rope clamp comprises a body portion 1 and a lever 4, the body portion 1 including a slot 2 and the lever 4 having a cam portion 5 mounted for rotation in the slot 2 at such a distance from the floor 7 of the slot as to enable a rope to be freely passed through the slot 2 between the cam surface 5A and the floor of the slot when the lever 4 is raised and to grip the rope between the cam surface 5A and the floor 7 of the slot 2 when the lever 4 is rotated to a lower position. The body portion may be made of metal or a plastics material and the cam surface 5A is serrated.
