Abstract

1,220,079. Excavator buckets. RUBERY OWEN & CO. Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [20 Dec., 1967], No. 57806/67. Heading E1F. In a multi-purpose two part excavator bucket the forward part 12 of the bucket has a bottom 13 of which the upper surface 17 is substantially flat and, when the part 12 bears against the rear part 11 of the bucket, extends forwardly from said rear part 11 at a small obtuse angle to the immediately adjacent surface of said rear part. The bottom may be formed by a single flat plate of heavy gauge or by a flat upper plate 17 and a lower, stiffener plate 18 of shallow, asymmetrical wedge outline with webs 19 extending between and welded to the plates 17, 18. The form of the plate 18 is such that the front part of the plate will be parallel to a surface when material is being picked up from said surface by the bucket.
