121,925. Rydbeck, P. S. July 26, 1918. Ball bearings.-Grooved race rings for ball bearings of substantially cylindrical form are made from pressed or rolled tubes or sheet metal. The corrugations forming the race grooves are in contact with the shaft and housing in the central plane A of the balls, so that the load is transmitted through the races without yielding. One shoulder 1 may be lower than the others, or one side of the ring may be level with the bottom of the race groove, in which case axial movement of the shaft is allowed. The bearing is put together by pressing the outer ring over the balls assembled around the inner ring. The pressure used in making the rings may be sufficient to harden them, or they may be tempered and subsequently ground and polished.
