Abstract
1,218,945. Control of motors. W. ZINDLER, [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER K.G.]. 1 May, 1968 [2 May, 1967], No. 20733/68. Heading H2J. [Also in Divisions B8 and G2] Copying apparatus comprises rollers for transporting the original which is inserted in an opening 3, past an exposure window 1 illuminated by a source 14. The light-beam 15 is deflected by mirror 16 and passes through lens 17 to impinge on a reproduction window 18, and the copying sheets pass along this window. A stack-holder 19 for copying sheets 20 is associated with a withdrawing roller 21 and transport roller 22. A counter-pressure roller 23 has a flattened portion so as to engage and disengage with the roller 22. A switching bridge 25 co-operates with an arm 26 of switch 27 for determining the readiness of a sheet of copying paper which then passes a charging device 28. The copying sheet is transported in front of the reproduction window by a set of rollers 30, 31 and 32, 33. The sheet then passes through a developing section 35 and a drier 36 to a delivery shoot 37. A motor 38 has a chain 39 for driving the transport elements for the original, and another chain 40 for driving the transport means for the sheet of copying paper. Closure of main switch 57 energizes magnet 43 to engage clutch 31 for driving the roller 21 and transporting a copying sheet which runs between rollers 22, 23, to the switch-arm 26 whereby contact 60 is changedover. This disengages the clutch so that the paper is in the ready position. Magnet 60 is energized when an original triggers switch 8, roller 23 being released under the effect of spring 52. Roller 22 advances the copying paper until it reaches the rollers 30, 21. The flat of the roller 23 then faces the roller 22, and the rollers remain in the locked position. A timing relay 63 then closes contacts 64 for actuatmg the roller 21 which comprises a free-wheel device permitting rotation of the roller under the action of the withdrawn sheet of paper. When the trailing edge of the sheet leaves the roller 21, the transporting action of the rollers 30, 31, becomes effective. A lamp 69 is extinguished to indicate that no original should be inserted. When the trailing edge of the copying sheet leaves the switch-arm 26, contact 60 changes back and the relay 63 is de-energized so that the next copying sheet advances to the ready position and the roller 21 is stopped. The lamp 69 gives the signal for the introduction of a new original. In another arrangement, a capacitor is charged through the switch 27, before the copying paper has reached the ready position, and, when the switch is reversed by the paper, the capacitor is discharged through a coil to uncouple the clutch for the roller 21. In addition, a ratchet wheel moves the first roller of a counter through a small angle. A warning lamp indicates that a copy can now be made, and a second capacitor is charged, a transformer supplying the unit 28 being disconnected. Switch 8, operated by the original, discharges a capacitor through a coil to re-engage the clutch for the roller 21, the counter being moved on to extinguish a lamp and re-energize the unit 28. A further capacitor discharges to release the rollers 22, 23, and to transport the copying sheet out of the ready position. The motor 38 and several fan motors are switched-on by a thermal device, a developer pump motor and the charger being switched-off when a flap in the housing is opened, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a further embodiment, a magnet for engaging the coupling for the roller 21 has a lever connected with a release lever associated with a pawl for operating the rollers 22, 23. After the release lever has pivoted through a certain angle, the rollers 22, 23, are locked when they have turned through one revolution, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown).
