Headings B3A, B3F and B3L. The subject matter of the Specification is similar to that of the parent Specification but the claims are directed to a process of pretreating a continuous casting which emerges from a concontinuous casting plant and which is to be subjected to further processing, for example rolling or swaging, in which the continuous casting is initially continuously sized at a hot forming temperature by means of dies, and is then peeled by being machined, especially by the apparatus described and claimed in the parent Specification, at a temperature near to the hotforming temperature. If necessary the casting may be re-heated before it is subjected to further processing.
