Abstract

1,218,639. Photographic flash apparatus. PENTACON DRESDEN KAMARA - UND KINOWERKE VEB. Nov. 5, 1968. No. 52395/68. Heading G1A. [Also in Division G2]. Photographic apparatus comprises the combination of a flash apparatus 1 having a photo-cell 4 associated with control device 3 for determining the duration of the flash from a lamp 2, and a camera 6 having a photo-cell 11 therein receiving light through the camera lens 7 and a semi reflecting mirror 9, each of the cells 4, 11 being connectable, via changeover switches 15, 16 and contacts 17, 18 respectively, with the device 3 for flash duration selection. When photographs are taken with the flash apparatus, plug contacts 5, 13 are inserted in the apparatus 1 and the camera 6, so as to connect the cell 11 with the device 3 and disconnect the cell 4 from circuit therewith. The cell 4 is provided with a removable filter 14 the transmittance of which corresponds to camera lens 7 and mirror 9. The cell 4 ensures that the control device 3 can be used independently of the camera 6, if desired. The arrangement provides for the use of the flash apparatus at a distance from the camera, but giving correct exposure of film in the camera. In a modification, (not shown), an electrical damping resistance is used connected in series with the photo-cell 4 for balancing out the difference in illumination between the use of directly illuminated photo-cell 4 of the flash apparatus, on the one hand, and the use of the photo-electric cell 11 mounted in the alternated path of the taking rays, on the other.
