Abstract
1,213,244. Photographic cameras. PENTACON DRESDEN KAMERA-UNDKINOWERKE VEB. Nov.5, 1968, No.52394/68. Heading G2A. [Also in Division G1] A photographic camera having a photo-cell 4 receiving light through the camera lens is provided with a built in photometer 2 and with a quantitative light meter 3, which may or may not be in the camera housing 1, there being a changeover switch 5 for alternatively connecting the photometer or the meter 3 to the photo-cell 4, as desired. As illustrated, the light meter 3 is built in, and is connected through a thyratron 6 with connecting contacts 7 on the camera housing, into which contacts a flash apparatus 13 is plugged. A switch 20 is operated by the camera shutter mechanism to ignite the flash-bulbs 12 in the apparatus 13. When a condenser 19 of the meter 3 has been sufficiently charged, the thyratron 6 is ignited to act as a switching element thereby cutting off the operating voltage to the bulb 12. In another embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown), the light meter (3) is mounted in an adaptor (15) which is connected to the changeover switch (5) by plug contacts (16) and conductors (17). The thyratron (6) is connected to the flash apparatus (13) by conductors (9) which plug into the adaptor, and the flash-bulb is controlled as described above. In a third embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown), the light meter (3) is mounted in the flash apparatus (13), which apparatus is connected to the switch (5) by the plug contacts (16) and is controlled as described above.
