Abstract
1,217,885. Circuit assemblies. INTERTRADING CORP. ETAB. 9 Feb., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967; 20 Dec., 1967; 21 Dec., 1967], No. 6545/68. Addition to 1,082,036. Heading H1R. [Also in Divisions G5 and H2] An electrical constructional kit as described in the Specification 1,082,036 includes a base-plate 110 and at least one contact block 150, electrical connecting means being provided on the or each contact block. The contact block 150 is held in place on the base 110, which may be of magnetic material, by means of permanent magnets 152 arranged inside the contact block 150 and is provided with sockets 156, 174, 175 into which flexible leads 160 from a building brick or unit 162 and leads 154 from an external measuring device plug. Socket 175 is connected to earth via a contact plate in the bottom face of the contact block. The two sockets of unit 162 are separately connected to respective contact plates each on a respective face of the unit as described in the parent Specification. Units 162 and 164, the latter having a first socket connected to a contact plate on one of the sides of the unit and a second socket connected to a contact plate on its bottom surface, enable measurements of current flow in the circuit to be made. Units 166, 170, 172 are provided with sockets for receiving an earphone 168, resistor, capacitor and transistor respectively. Instead of having sockets components may be connected to the units via soldering lugs which pass up through the top part of the unit, Fig. 2 (not shown). The units may be closed by an interference fitting lid, Fig. 4 (not shown). Motors or dynamos may be constructed on the base 110 using appropriate units, Fig. 5 and Figs. 6, 7, 8 (not shown). Unit 111 carries a vertical shaft 112 of an armature 113, coils 114 being connected with segments 115, 116 of a radial commutator which co-operate with brushes 117 fixed inside the unit and connected with contact plates 118. Polepieces 119 project through openings 120 in the side walls of the unit 111 and contact on the right-hand side limb 124 of an electromagnet of unit 121 and on the lefthand side permanent magnet 127. The electromagnet is energized via contact plates 126 connected to coil 122. Either permanent field magnets or electromagnets may be used on both sides of the unit 111. The base-plate 110 forms part of the magnetic flux circuit of the motor and the units 111, 121, 128 can be provided with holding magnets to attach the units to the base-plate. The supply of current to the motor is made via units including line connections, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown). A bridge rectifier circuit, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), may be built up of square prismatic -units and units which have the form of a ring-angled isosceles triangle with two truncated comers. The base-plate may be disposed vertically.
