Abstract

121,783. Brine, C. T. Dec. 28. 1917. Balusters; hand -rails.-Brackets or stanchions for hand-rails, balus. ters, &c. are constructed from head and base members 1, 2, lengths of screwed rod 5, and tubes 4, interposed between the members 1, 2 and surrounding the rod 5, the advantage being that the tube and rod can be cut to the required dimensions from long lengths of the material while the parts 1, 2 are made of standard pattern. The rod is screwed throughout its length and may screw partly into or completely through the base 2. To facilitate adjustment when the wall &c. is not vertical or horizontal, two disks 10, 11, cut with sloping surfaces, are interposed between the base piece and the supporting structure and rotated to give the necessary adjustment.
