Abstract
1,216,589. Tetrazole derivatives. MERCK & CO. Inc. 16 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 59679/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R 2 , Ra are each H or alkyl, R 5 is H, alkoxy, alkenoxy, halogen, NO 2 , NH 2 , NH alkyl, N(alkyl) 2 , alkyl or OH, and X is halogen, SH, S alkyl, S(O)alkyl, S(O 2 )alkyl, trihalomethyl (=Y), YS, YO, NO 2 or N(alkyl) 2 and a process for preparing them by reacting with a metal azide the corresponding benzylideneindenylacetonitrile. Therapautic compositions for oral, parenteral or topical administration comprise compounds of the above formula, which are anti-inflammatory agents and also have antipyretic and analgesic activity.
