1,216,525. Preparation of alkanolamines. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 10 April, 1968 [13 April, 1967], No. 17185/68. Heading C2C. Alkanolamines-(1,2) and cycloalkanolamines- (1,2) are prepared by reacting an alkylene oxide or cycloalkylene oxide with ammonia or a primary or secondary amine in the presence of water and in the presence of a solid inert substance having an internal surface area of from 0À1 to 1200 m<SP>2</SP>/g. In examples, propylene oxide is reacted with ammonia in the presence of alumina, diatomaceous earth or pumice having an appropriate surface area to yield a mixture of mono-, di- and tri-isopropanolamines.
