Abstract
1,216,222. Rod-cutting device. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 25 April, 1969 [26 April, 1968], No. 19987/68. Heading A2C. A device for cutting articles, e.g. multiple length filter plugs, on the outer periphery of a rotary drum 4, comprises a cutting blade 6 fixed relatively to the drum 4 and extending around the outer periphery thereof and which has a leading end to its cutting edge so positioned radially of the drum 4 as to be struck by the outer surface of the articles carried thereon and a trailing end to the cutting edge positioned radially inwardly of the inner surface of the articles carried on the drum 4 so that the articles are completely severed in travelling along the knife edge around the drum. The blade 6 is mounted on a holder 7 which latter is hooked at its upper end around a pivot stub 10 and is bolted at its lower end to a fixed bridge piece 9. The drum 4 is provided with a radially extending groove 5 to accommodate the blade 6. A plurality of blades 6 may be provided if it is desired to subdivide each plug into more than two sections.
