Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A lighting unit for use with hydraulic equipment e.g. in a mine, comprises a casing 1 enclosing a generator 4 and an hydraulic driving motor such as a turbine 7, one end of the casing having a glazed cover 2 covering a light source 3, supplied by the generator, and the other end having connections for pipes 21, 23 which supply hydraulic fluid to the motor from the circuit of the hydraulic equipment. The unit may be attached to a mine roof support of the selfadvancing type; the fluid supply pipes being connected in the supply lines (26a, 26b), Fig. 5 (not shown) to the hydraulic chocks between a pump and a distribution block (46). In a modification the light source is separate from the generator and turbine.
