Abstract

1,215,654. Terminal blocks. THOMAS & BETTS CORP. 16 Aug., 1968 [16 Aug., 1967], No. 39401/68. Heading H2E. A modular terminal block has pairs of ribs 11 and 12, 11a and 12a &c. defining keyways 13 for the tongue portion 17 of terminal pin member 14, arm portions of member 14 extending beyond the block, and to secure pin 14 in position, tongue 17 cuts into protuberances 30, 31 provided on, as shown, ribs 11a, 12a, while rear edge 18 cuts into protuberances 19, 20 on adjacent ribs 11, 12, the scrapings falling into undercut portions 23, 24. The rib pairs fit into recess 25 in an adjacent block when the blocks are assembled together. Each block may also have a boss (36) (Fig. 6, not shown), fitting into a corresponding recess in an adjacent block and the assembly may be bolted together by bolts 28, 29. The block bases have arms 37, 38 with lugs 39, 40 providing in the assembly slots which assist positioning of wires 15. The ends of the wires are captured in slanted slots 16 in pins 14. Pins 14 may be coupled by busbars accommodated in the grooves at the outer sides of the ribs, or running behind the pins in keyways 13 or in recesses 25. Bus-wires (54) (Fig. 3, not shown) may interconnect the pins in different blocks. The assembled blocks have brackets 49 for mounting on rails or boards, portions 51 being provided for angular mounting.
