Apparatus for forecasting football match results comprises one or more boards a, Fig. 1, bearing a pattern of parallel-sided, tapered or part-spherical openings c, and correspondingly shaped numbered counters which are a press-fit in the openings. The openings may be replaced by simple marks, pegs to fit holes in the counters, or magnets to attract metal counters. Each match is denoted by a set of three like-numbered counters installed on the board(s), the sets being consecutively numbered. To precast eight draws, the user predicts a result for each match, and removes all three appropriate counters for a draw, or two counters for a home or away win, or one counter for no prediction. The removed counters are shaken together in a container, and removed one at a time until eight differently-numbered counters are obtained to form the first "line" of the selection. Other types of selection are made in a similar manner. To forecast the results of a predetermined number of specified matches, each set of likenumbered counters comprises three groups each of three counters, a group denoting a home win, away win or draw. The groups have a distinctive colour, shape or marking. Sets or groups may comprise more than three counters. One board may be used for each group.
