Abstract

1,214,472. Sawing. TENAPLAS Ltd. 21 June, 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 28714/67. Heading B5L. A circular saw device for cutting plastic pipes at an angle comprises a main frame 14 having a pedestal and a work-holding table 37, the pedestal and table being relatively adjustable, and a saw carrier 16 mounted to swivel about a vertical axis 26 of the pedestal and carrying a circular saw 3 at one end of a pivot arm 10 and a driving motor 11 balancing the saw at the opposite end of the arm, the pivot arm being carried upon a horizontal pivot 8 on the carrier so that the saw may be tilted up and down relatively to the table, and clamping means 28 for holding the carrier in an angularly adjusted position to provide for cutting a pipe at an angle to the axis thereof when held on the table. The saw carrier 16 is mounted oh a bearing plate 15 at the top of the pedestal and is rotatably adjustable about a vertical spigot 26 and can be clamped in adjusted position by a nut 28. The arm 10 is mounted on a horizontal pivot 8 and is angularly movable between limits determined by adjustable stops 9. The saw blade is mounted on one end of the arm and is driven by a belt 5 from a motor at the other end of the arm. A guard 2 is also mounted on the pivot 8 and is provided with an arcuate slot whereby when the arm is lowered, the guard engages the workpiece while permitting the saw to advance through the workpiece. The work-holding table is decked with timber 37 and has a back-plate 38. The lower surface of the table is provided with inverted U-shaped guides 35 slidable on horizontal rails 34 on the frame 14.
