Abstract

1,214,307. Hair dryers. A. GUHL. 7 Dec., 1967 [26 May, 1967], No. 55627/67. Heading A5R. A hair dryer comprises a casing 1 having a head receiving portion and houses infra-red generators 17, 18 having reflectors 20 upstream of a propeller 14, for directing infrared rays in intersecting paths transversely of the current of air generated by the propeller. The casing 1 which is formed with an extension 6 and is longer at the back than the front has a reflecting inner surface 7. An electric motor (12) is mounted on a bracket 10 in the upper part 8 of the hood and has a shaft 13 supporting fan blades 14. An ozone generator (16) is mounted above the motor 12 and a pair of parallel infrared radiators 17, 18 or an annular radiator (not shown), depend from the bracket 10 and have concave 'reflectors 20 so arranged that a part a of the radiation is transmitted directly to the head and a part a' reaches the head after reflection. Spacer ribs 26 on the inner surface of the head extrusion 6 prevent the hair contacting the inner surface of the hood and a grating 27 prevents contact between the user's head and the propeller and infra-red radiators.
