Abstract

Systems for continuous-current motors only.- The speed of a motor is controlled by a variable vibrating element operating independently of the motor. The shunt coil 10 energizes a core 15 which attracts an armature 13. The winding is then short-circuited by the switch 16 and the armature is released. As the armature vibrates, the contact 11 carried by it engages and disengages the contact 12, thereby periodically shortcircuiting the resistance R in the shunt field circuits of the motor. The speed of the motor may be varied by varying the rate of vibration of the armature 11 by adjusting the hand-wheel 17 of the contact 12, or by adjusting the screw 16<1>.
