Abstract

1,214,226. Sintered porous Ni electrode. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc. May 14, 1968 [July 28, 1967], No.22815/68. Heading C7D. A sintered porous Ni battery electrode with a porosity of at least 80% volume with less than 15% pore volume of pores smaller than 7 microns, is made from a powder mixture of Ni and 7-18% male of the oxide, carbonate or formate of Ni, powders having density less than 3g/c. c., which is deposited on a porous Ni screen and sintered at 800‹ -2000‹ F. Ni powder particle size is 2À4-3À6 microns, formate is 12 microns and carbonate is less than 40 microns. Powder mixture may be slurried with water and alcohol and optionally polyethylene oxide or methyl cellulose may be added. Sintering effected in H2 or exothermic gas.
