Abstract

[Also in Divisions G1 and H4] The active element of an electro-mechanical transducer is made of selenium in elemental form. In Fig. 1, a transducer comprises a layer of selenium 14 applied in a molten state to form a coating on an electrically conductive base 12. In Fig. 5, a plastics tube 66 is filled with powdered or granulated selenium 72 and closed by glass plugs 68, 70 through which leads 74, 76 extend. A mono or stereo gramophone pick-up or cutting stylus may use transducers according to the invention (Division H4).
