Stable acid ligniniferous liquids are prepared by dissolving ligniniferous compounds and alcohols and/or ketones and/or ketone-alcohols, in sulphuric acid, phenolsulphonic acid or ethylsulphuric acid or mixtures thereof in the presence of urea. Specified ligniniferous compounds are alkyl lignins, alkali lignins and ligninsulphonic acids (dried sulphite liquor). The liquid products are used as hardeners for furan resins.
