Abstract

1,213,580. Laminates. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 7 March, 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 11074/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B2, C3 and H1] Laminates are produced by adhesively bonding various substrates together with a molten olefin terpolymer, at elevated temperature (from melt temperature of terpolymer up to 240‹ C.) with or without superatmospheric pressure. The terpolymer used contains 60 to about 90 parts by weight of ethylene units, 0À5 to 20 parts of acrylic acid units and 0À5 to 20 parts by weight of tertiary butyl acrylate units, the total of the parts by weight being 100. Substrates specified are of metal, polyolefins, glass, textiles, fabrics, rubber, leather and paper. Examples describe the formation of the laminate polyethylene/terpolymer/terpolymer by the thermal impulse method; aluminium/ terpolymer/glass/terpolymer/aluminium; glass/ terpolymer/glass; and plywood board/terpolymer/aluminium.
