Abstract

In mixing and separating immiscible liquids, the liquids are fed into tube 1 via inlet 7, and for mixing the cube is oscillated as in Fig. 4. For separation, either the tube is held vertically as in Fig. 5 when the heavy layer syphons off through tube 4, and then the light layer is withdrawn through inlet 7 as in Fig. 7, or the tube is held vertically as in Fig. 8 when the light layer is drawn off through inlet 7, and then the remaining heavy layer is drawn off as shown in Fig. 7. The tube 1 can be adjusted to the required positions by a friction clutch (24) (Figs. 1 and 2 not shown).
