Abstract
1,213,495. Control of D.C. motors. STEINBOOK G.m.b.H. 26 April, 1968, No. 14512/68. Headings H2A and H2J. An electric motor has additional field windings provided in series with the main field winding to cause overexcitation during starting. As shown, motor M has a main series field winding connected between terminals EF1 and two additional field windings connected between terminals F1, F2; F2, F3 respectively. On starting relay 7 or 8 is closed, depending on the direction of rotation selected at drum control switch 3, supplying power from battery 1 to armature M and all field windings in series. During acceleration switch 3 is rotated further to close relay 9 which short circuits the windings between terminals F2, F3 and further rotation of the switch operates relay 10 to short circuit the winding between F1, F2. The additional windings may consist of a plurality of parallel branches of fine wire so that accommodation on the poles is facilitated. A motor with two separate armature windings each with its own commutator and associated field winding system is described. The motors, combined in a single housing, may be connected in series or parallel.
