Abstract
1,213,263. Photo-electric humidity measurement. E.P.S. (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. March 6, 1969, No.12045/69. Heading G1A. In a humidity meter a humidity sensing element 9 Fig. 2 such as a sheet impregnated with cobalt chloride determines the amount of light falling on a light sensitive element 6 from a light source 3. The element 6 is mounted on a slider 7 for adjustment of its position on a base 1 and two light screens 4, 8 are arranged to clamp the sheet 9 during a measurement. The bulb 3 and element 6 are fed via a switch 12 from a common supply 10, and the bulb may be selected to emit a predetermined wavelength or range of wavelengths to an element including in its path a suitable filter. The light beam may be chopped to distinguish it from incident ambient light and to facilitate the use of an A.C. amplifier. Light reflected from the sheet may alternatively be used.
