Abstract

1,213,084. Razor-blade dispenser. PHILIP MORRIS Inc. 10 March, 1969 [16 July, 1968], No. 12421/69. Heading B8P An injector-type razor-blade dispenser comprises an injection-moulded one-piece hollow body member having a top wall divided by a longitudinal slot 26 into portions 24 and 24, a front end wall 18 having a razor dispensing slot therein, and a partition wall 34 dividing the body into upper and lower compartments 36 and 40 for new and used blades respectively, a moulded plastics end clip 14 closing the rear end of the body and having a hollow upper part received in the upper compartment, a spring 42 urging the uppermost blade of the blade stack 13 upwardly against longitudinal ribs 44, 46 on the inner faces of the top wall portions 22 and 24 to align said upper blade with the dispensing slot, abutment projections 74 and 76, 76<SP>1</SP> on the end clip and body respectively laterally retaining the cutting edges of the blades a spaced distance from the side wall 30, and a moulded one-piece plastics blade pusher 16 having an upper part 79 slidable in the slot and provided with narrow lands 82 bearing on the upper surface of the top wall portions. The lower part 86 of the pusher is provided with extensions 88 for engaging the end edge of the uppermost blade to dispense the same. The abutment projections 74 and 76 engage chamfered non- cutting edges of the blade stack and retain the blade stack against the body side wall 32. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the abutment projections 122, 124 engage a small portion of the cutting edges of the blades. Front wall portions of the clip 14 engage between the longitudinal ribs 44 and 46 and their adjacent side walls 30, 32 of the body and prevent laterally opening of the slot. The end clip is retained in the closure position by a latching projection 68. In a further modification, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), rib 44 is provided with an additional longitudinal rounded rib 207 to retain the uppermost blade in parallel alignment with the body side wall 32.
