Abstract

1,212,835. Controlling warp tension in looms. ENSHU Ltd. 23 Oct., 1967 [27 Oct., 1966; 6 Feb., 1967], No. 48148/67. Heading DIE. When the starting handle is moved to stop the loom, it pulls down a rod 31 to disengage a catch 37 from a lug 38, thereby allowing a follower 27 to engage a cam 29 on the crankshaft; the concave part of the cam permits a spring 28 to press a brake shoe 26 against a shoe 22 to lock a moveable back rest 11. When the loom is restarted, the catch 37 re-engages when a high lobe of the cam encounters the follower 27 just before picking. Conversely, the rod may be lifted when the loom is being stopped, in which case the follower 27 normally runs on the cam 29 and the back rest is locked for part of every cycle, but is kept unlocked when the loom is stopped. In another embodiment, the connection from the starting handle controls displacement of an easing motion roller situated between the warp beam and the moveable back rest.
