Abstract
1,212,458. Gas-cooled reactors. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 8 July, 1969 [23 Sept., 1968], No. 45200/68. Heading G6C. A refuelling standpipe 10 leads to a channel of the reactor core by means of a charging guide 11 extending through a hot gas plenum. To minimize an unstable flow of the coolant gas as it emerges through the annular space formed by the overlapping parts 12, 14, the standpipe 10 is provided with a fitting 13 of wire mesh or perforated metal sheet. In the Fig. 3 embodiment a solid baffle 17 is additionally provided to cause downward discharge of the coolant.
