Abstract

1,211,906. Filter press plates. PROGRESS ENGS. Ltd. 12 June, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 16927/68. Heading B1D. A filter press plate comprises a metal casting whose central area presents smooth surfaces 1 to which are bonded sheets 20 of rubber or plastics, grooves or projections 21 being formed on the outer faces of sheets 20 during the bonding process which involves pressing between dies. Projections 21 then support overlying layers of filter cloth (not shown) and enable filtrate to drain to holes 22 in sheets 20 and thence through holes 4 in the casting. Holes 4 are lined with rubber or plastics, which also covers the faces of integral frame 3 and may extend round the outer edge of the plate. Integral supports 5 on the top or sides of the plate, suspend the plate from overhead or side girders in the press. A coated plate as described may be used in conjunction with a similarly coated separate frame.
