Abstract
1,211,540. Cooking vessels. SAMUEL GROVES & CO. Ltd. 15 Dec., 1967 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 56404/67. Headings A4A and A4D. A range of cooking vessel units capable of use in combination with each other to form a plurality of different types of cooking vessel, comprises a water container having a flat bottom and upstanding side wall and a lid forming the basic unit with a rectangular configuration and a plurality of purpose-designed units capable of assembly with the basic unit either individually or in combination with each other to form a cooking vessel of a particular type. Such purpose-designed units include a steamer unit having a perforate bottom wall forming a food support and a side wall of rectangular configuration, conforming substantially to that of the basic unit, such side wall being adapted at its lower end to interfit with the upper end of the water container of the basic unit and adapted at its upper end to receive the lid of the latter; a poaching unit comprising a base provided with, or having apertures of a size to receive poaching dishes, spacer means for raising the base above the bottom wall of the water container, one or more handle elements projecting upwardly from the base to a position adjacent to the mouth of the water container, the base being of rectangular configuration, conforming substantially to that of the water container; and a fish kettle unit comprising a perforate base of rectangular configuration conforming substantially to that of the water container, the size of the perforations being smaller than that of the apertures of the poaching unit as required by the different function to be performed, spacer means for raising the base above the bottom wall of the latter and handle elements situated at opposed positions around the periphery of the base element and extending upwardly therefrom to a position adjacent to the mouth of the water container. The steamer unit may also contain a plurality of subordinate containers and may be fitted with an electric heating element, connected by a flexible lead to an adjustable current-controlling regulator device.
