Abstract
1,211,441. Current stabilzers. RCA CORPORATION. March 29, 1968 [March 30, 1967], No.15319/68. Heading G3X. A load 13, e.g. the alignment coil of a television camera tube, is supplied with constant current from sources 16, 19 of opposite polarity by way of a circuit including series-connected complementary transistors 11, 12 inter-connected as shown with resistors 14, 15, 17, 18, 25 and diodes 21, 22, 23, 24, the load 13 being coupled to the junction 26 between the tranistors 11, 12; the resistors 15, 17 are variable, and their adjustable contacts are mechanically connected so that as one resistor increases in value the other decreases in like magnitude. Thus the magnitude and polarity of the current through the load 13 can be controlled by concurrently adjusting the resistors 15, 18, and this current, once established, tends to remain constant because the impedance of the current source at the point 26 is high since the current is derived from the collector electrodes of the transistors 11, 12; further, the current is stabilized against changes in in the sources 16, 19 by the inclusion of the Zener diodes 21, 24 in the base-emitter circuits of the transistors. The transistors may be of the insulated-gate field-effect type.
