Abstract

1,211,244. Adhesive laminates and films. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 6 Nov., 1967 [7 Nov., 1966], No. 50386/67. Headings B5B and B5N. [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Substrates are laminated by means of or self-supporting films are prepared from an adhesive composition comprising (a) a normally and aggressively tacky viscoelastic pressuresensitive adhesive component comprising a natural or synthetic rubber and/or a random copolymer; and (b) 3 to 25% of the composition of a block copolymer comprising at least three blocks -A-B-A- wherein each A is a non-elastic polymer block of molecular weight from 5000 to 125,000 and B is a conjugated diene polymer block of molecular weight from 15,000 to 250,000. The usual tackifiers, phenolaldehyde resin and antioxidant ingredients may be included. The self-supporting films may be obtained by coating on a release liner. In examples laminates of a paper release liner and a polyester film or of two crepe paper masking tapes are formed using the above adhesive composition.
