Abstract

1,210,903. Ice detectors. VAPOR CORP. Feb. 5, 1969, No. 6267/69. Heading G1N. Apparatus for detecting the presence of ice or snow comprises an aluminium conical member 26 Fig. 2, whose outer surface is anodized, with a lead 50 contacting the aluminium body and lead 47 located on the anodized coating, whereby the normally insulating coating becomes conductive when wet and reduces the resistance between leads 47, 50 to operate an alarm. The centre of member 26 contains a heater 52 which controlled by a thermoswitch 58 to be energized at 34‹ F. to melt any ice or snow.
