Abstract

1,210,419. Trackways for air-cushion vehicles. SOC. DE L'AEROTRAIN. 6 Sept., 1968 [12 Dec., 1967], No. 42547/68. Heading B7L. A trackway for air-cushion vehicles comprises T-section pylons 1 supporting a longitudinal central guide 2 formed with support surfaces 3b and outer longitudinal members formed with support surfaces 3a, the spaces between the support surfaces being filled by flexible decks 9 supported on cables 8 suspended from bridgepieces 7 mounted on the pylons. Between the pylons the decks are carried by elements 9a clamped at 22 to the cables, whereas on the bridge-pieces clamps 16 secure the cables thereto. Between the decks 9 and the members forming surfaces 3a are U-shaped seals 10 formed of canvas or plastics material. The central guide 1 and the members forming the surfaces 3a may be made of porous concrete containing closed cells, or metal box structure or beams of cavity design. Skirts 5 define the supporting air cushion and skirts 14 the guiding cushion. Fig. 5 illustrates an alternative method of attaching the cables 8 to decks 9.
